the sound of the Bay Area
We teamed up with History through Hip-Hop (HHH) to use music that empowers the voices of young people in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco. Hosted in our SF office, young people at HHH take on a topic like gentrification or inequality and learn about multiple sides of the issue. They react to what they’ve learned, using their voices to express their opinions. They write original pieces of music, record them, and perform in front of their community.
We can support young artists.
Educate yourself on the issues facing youth in the Tenderloin, while they educate themselves on the issues facing our society. This summer, HHH wants to send 10 of their students to a hip-hop boot camp with a major artist.
Donate below to get involved, through Indiegogo.
$1,000 sends 1 student to the hip-hop boot camp.
Educate yourself on the issues facing youth in the Tenderloin, while they educate themselves on the issues facing our society. All you have to do is listen. Thanks to Rock the Cause Records, when you listen to this album, you've supported History Through Hip Hop.
At History through Hip-Hop, young people from the Tenderloin are given a space to express themselves through hip-hop art and culture: beat-making, lyric-writing, and graffiti art.
Spotify and History through Hip Hop work together in San Francisco to provide an inspiring space for young artists. Our San Francisco office hosts the program in the city and sponsors the students’ final performance at the Warfield Theater. We release an album of their work on Spotify, promote it with a donated media campaign, and the program reinvests the proceeds into their work.
