Let's make music change

New Orleans has a unique musical culture. Tipitina’s Foundation is partnering with Spotify to preserve and promote that culture while providing mentorship opportunities for young musicians, workforce development for adults, and live performances for everyone. To do it, school band programs need quality instruments for their students.
We’re looking for used instruments that can be refurbished and placed in these school band programs. If you have an old band instrument, ship it to Tipitina’s Foundation free of charge. They’ll refurbish it and donate it to a Louisiana school band.
"I lived in New Orleans for eight years before coming to NYC. Music in New Orleans is just a part of your everyday life. There are Sunday parades, amazing brass bands, jazz funerals, a second line in the French Quarter -- every day you interact with these incredible musicians."
Tipitina's Foundation currently has over 1,500 instrument requests from Louisiana band directors. In other words, the bands need your help. Donate your old instruments by shipping them to Tipitina's Foundation free of charge. They'll refurbish them to give to school bands across Louisiana.
Hear the music that makes New Orleans such a vibrant, unique musical culture. These tunes are worth preserving.
Tipitina’s Foundation’s leading initiative, The Instruments A Comin' program, increases youth participation in music throughout Louisiana by providing quality instruments to school music programs. Instruments A Comin' is an ongoing program now in its fourteenth year and has placed more than $3 million dollars worth of musical instruments in over 95 Louisiana school music programs.
Many schools in New Orleans are in need of instruments; however, the schools we seek out are guided by exemplary band directors that can use the additional resources to include more students in their band programs. Upon selecting a recipient school, the Tipitina's Foundation works closely with each band director, who is ultimately responsible for the success and improvement of the school's music program. The Foundation plays a leading role in assisting band directors throughout the area by providing necessary resources to their schools.
Spotify’s partnership with Tipitina’s Foundation was inspired by Rosa Asciola, a member of our artist services team, who spent many years in New Orleans working with schools in the area. She was inspired by New Orleans jazz to continue a career in music, and now wants to help give back to the city. We’re raising awareness for their instrument drive and supporting their mission to continue the musical traditions of New Orleans.
